FirstMed – case study

Success in Rome - against all odds?

Working on everything FirstMed learned during more than two decades of successful operation in Budapest, FirstMed developed the methodology to establish a clinic in a new territory.

As a capital city of one of Europe’s largest economies, Rome seemed a natural fit for fulfilling the needs of a huge international and local market that was inadequately served by international-standard, English-speaking clinics.

40,000+ hotel rooms

509,000 expat residents

15.2 million annual tourist visits

224 international embassies

2 United Nations HQs
European Space Agency

19 international schools

150+ international corporate HQs

6 international universities

Launch and succeed... in a pandemic!

Demonstrating the robustness of the FirstMed method, FirstMed Rome launched in the most extreme circumstances: Italy’s notorious bureaucracy was the first challenge, multiplied many times over by the pandemic.

Against all odds, the clinic opened its doors in the middle of Italy’s first, intense lockdown in 2020. In the face of unimaginable complications, revenue and patient numbers have grown steadily – proving both the efficacy of the method, and the demand in Rome identified by FirstMed’s founder.

Since launch, the clinic has grown from strength to strength, with an average growth rate in revenue of 48% per year, entering profitability early in year four – 10 months ahead of schedule.
