Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT)

gyerekOtolaryngology or ENT (ear, nose, and throat) is the branch of medicine and surgery that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose, throat, head and neck disorders. During an ENT examination, microscopes, endoscopes and laryngoscopes are used to determine the origin of an illness.

While at first this may seem a simple issue, doctors in the field are working hard to determine how to best diagnose and treat illnesses related to the patient’s ear, nose, and throat. For example, a device called the rhinomanometer is now used to measure nasal inspiratory flow and pressure, but ENTs also deals with various sleeping disorders such as snoring and sleep apnea, which are characterized by abnormal pauses in breathing or instances of abnormally low breathing during sleep.

Please note that some of our ENT specialists work offsite.
